The World of Art Supplies

Once a month or so, I like to find myself at the Art Supply Store. Where I live, the best Art Supplies are found at Hobby Lobby. We have a Michael’s too, but it’s not as well kept as the Hobby Lobby… plus it’s further away. I love a “real” Art Supply Store, like Meininger’s in Denver, or Joe’s (formerly Cheap Joe’s dot com) or Blick (formerly Dick Blick dot com). These big stores are in big cities, and that’s not where I live… so I enjoy what I get. There was a point in my life where I had to drive 4 hours to get to an Art Supply Store - and that’s when I decided to open my own. Ha!

The point is, that I love a good Art Supply Store. I’ve learned over the years how to shop them and I also know how to use most everything in there. The majority of the projects we Create in the Be Creative Collective Membership can be Created with just the supplies in the Shoebox Studio. As a way for you to grow at your own pace, I’ll share my shopping experience each month and let you know what I’m adding to my Shoebox. We’ll also run out of certain things (like Acrylic paint!) and need to restock regularly… so I’ll show you where I do this and how to get the best prices. Yes, I’m an affiliate for many of the products and I may receive a little financial gain with your purchase. The family motto I grew up with is: “I’m a deal seeker, not a thrill seeker”. It’s not true at all (I love thrills!!) and has its extra dose of baggage when it comes to an Abundance Mindset, but what it does mean is that I know how to find the deals. I aim for the best price and then get the most use out of these materials. So, for this sort of stuff, we’re going to invite my Pirate friend/alter-ego Barrrrrbara to give us her Monthly Bounty List where she’ll share what we scored and from where. Then we’ll explore how to use it throughout the month and going forward as the new supplies become part of our Shoebox Studio.
